VEX 123


VEX 123 is an interactive, programmable robot that takes computer science and computational thinking off of the screen and brings them to life.

VEX IQ (2nd generation) Clawbot



VEX IQ is a robotics platform designed to transform STEM learning for young students and their teachers.  Students as young as 8 can jump right in and snap robots together using this intuitive, toolless platform while educators can utilize the free VEX IQ Curriculum to help teach them valuable lessons and skills that are needed in today's changing world. The VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, gives students affordable access to the inspiration, excitement and learning that comes from participating in a STEM challenge.


Features include:


  • structural pieces snap together and come apart without the need for tools

  • a variety of wheels, gears, sensors, and other accessories are available

  • can connect up to 12 devices to the Robot Brain

  • robot can be controlled autonomously or by drivers with the controller

  • free graphical programming software

In 2021, VEX released VEX IQ 2nd Generation.  STEM education has evolved since the introduction of VEX IQ in 2013, and the robot construction system needed to evolve as well. The VEX engineers have made hundreds of minor improvements to the VEX IQ system, however, it is still the IQ system you know today, and it is all forwards and backwards compatible. We worked closely with STEM educators and mentors, and we’ve taken their feedback into account in this redesign as well. Advancements in silicon chipsets and battery technologies have also allowed for the integration of new features and capabilities in our robotics platform. A few of these include:

  • Code with Python, Blocks and C++

  • Educators can easily bring the excitement of VEX competitions into the classroom

  • Classroom clutter is greatly reduced with organized parts storage

  • Student’s robot build experience is enhanced with many new and useful parts

  • Firmware updates are simpler and easier to manage

  • Battery runtime was increased significantly before the robots slow down

V5 Smart Motor

The V5 Smart Motor is more than twice as powerful as the 2-Wire Motor 393, and puts an integrated encoder and a motor controller into one compact package. Customize speed and torque with interchangeable gear cartridges.

VEX V5 Vision Sensor

VEXcode VR


Learn Computer Science at home without a robot.

VEXcode VR lets you code a virtual robot using a block based coding environment powered by Scratch Blocks. VEXcode VR is based on VEXcode, the same programming environment used for VEX 123, GO, IQ and V5 robots. We all know that robots make Computer Science (CS) come to life with real world applications. Now STEM learning can continue while at home for students, teachers and mentors with no access to their VEX robots.

VEX V5 Workcell


The VEX V5 Workcell is an introduction into the world of industrial robotics. These unique STEM Labs and educator resources provide students with the opportunity to develop technical and problem solving skills by designing and building a simulated manufacturing workcell with a five axis robot. Nearly all products manufactured in the world today utilize some form of mechanization, many of which include robotic workcells. The V5 Workcell utilize a robotic arm and conveyor systems attached to the V5 Workcell, which students will build out of parts designed to work with the VEX V5 system.

VEX Robotics has leveraged our 5th generation robotics platform, VEX V5, to the task of Automation Robotics.  Using the wealth of robotics electronics, motors, sensors, mechanical and motion components, we developed the Workcell specifically for Career and Technical Education.  Tied in with our successful VEXcode programming software, students can learn Factory Automation concepts in an approachable manner.

The 12-week Workcell STEM Labs include:
