In your class or lab, it’s not some ivory tower or esoteric theory.
It’s practical and hands-on. It’s real world. Secondary schools,
technical schools, colleges, and educational institutes of all kinds
are increasingly turning their students on to leading edge 3D
printing technologies through 3D Systems. Educators depend on our 3D
printers for an affordable way to ignite the imaginations of their
students. Their easy-to-learn, maintain and use high definition
printers take students far beyond the theory to designing and
creating three dimensional models right before their eyes. 3D
Printers are indispensible tools for learning.
3D Systems' 3D printers are easy to own and economical to operate.
Their 3D printers are the output tool of choice for designers,
engineers, marketers, artists, architects and educators. Equip your
students with tomorrow's skills today.
3D Systems manufacturers both personal and professional printers:

RapMan 3D Printer Kits
Bring your 3D models and CAD drawings to life with the RapMan 3.2 3D
printer kit. Build this machine yourself and start creating
prototypes, models, RC parts, toys…the list is endless!
RapMan
3D Printers are based on additive layer manufacturing (ALM) methods.
Using thermoplastics, the 3D printer heats the material through the
extruder (or print head). The extruder then pushes out a very fine
plastic thread which is applied layer by layer according to x and y
co-ordinates, building a solid, 3D object.
A perfect machine for students and educators, the RapMan 3D printers:
-
are the first cost-effective 3D
printer kit on the market
-
are desktop sized with large print
area (up to 270 x 205 x 210mm)
-
use affordable materials for
uninterrupted production
-
have a touch screen interface
-
read files
directly from USB drive; which means no PC connectivity is
required
-
do not require a maintenance
contract

Materials for
3DTouch and RapMan Printers
Create real plastic 3D objects with tried and tested thermoplastics.
Available materials include:
-
ABS
(Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is considered to be the second
easiest material to work with when you start 3D printing. ABS is
an engineering polymer commonly used to produce car bumpers due
to its toughness and strength. It’s also the stuff that Lego
blocks are made of…tough enough but safe enough for the kids to
handle! Please note however, consideration must be made
when printing larger objects—thermal stress can cause ABS to
warp as the part cools. ABS is suitable to make light, rigid,
molded products with good shock absorbance and wear resistance.
Available in both colored and white:

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is
probably the easiest material to work with when you first start
printing. PLA is a biodegradable thermoplastic that has been
derived from renewable resources such as corn starch and sugar
canes. This makes PLA environmentally friendly and very safe to
work with. PLA also has a very sharp glass transition point so
if you use a fan to cool it, on printing it will set to solid
very quickly. This has the advantage of achieving a greater
range of geometries than are possible with other plastics. It
also reduces the thermal stress on the printed part—warping
becomes less of an issue in larger parts when you print with
PLA. Available in both colored and translucent:

The double head material
starter pack is the ideal solution to complement your dual-head
3D printer. Containing 4x rolls of PLA material and 2x rolls of
ABS in a variety of colors, these thermoplastics have been
proven easiest to print with.
